• In this passage from Matthew’s Gospel we hear that the boat containing the disciples of Jesus was being tossed by the waves and the wind was blowing against it. Do you feel that the University is presently like this boat? Or the Church in light of the present scandal?
  • Jesus came towards their boat during the fourth watch of the night, the darkest period of the night. Has Our Lord ever come to strengthen you in one of your darkest hours, such as the loss of someone you deeply love or a very challenging trial in your life?
  • Our Lord invites Peter to get out of the boat and to do the impossible, i.e., walk on the water towards Him. What do you feel that is impossible that the Lord is now requesting for you to do in a step of faith, turning away from fear, whether it be in the workplace or classroom here at Franciscan or in a personal area of your life?
  • We hear how Peter began to sink in the water when he took his eyes off Jesus and became frightened, whereupon he cried out to the Lord, Who immediately rescued him. Have you also had challenging moments when you likewise called out to God, and He promptly responded to your urgent appeal for help? Have you praised Him afterwards?
